Watson tied for Open lead; Tiger in big trouble

Tom Watson recovered from a distastrous front nine to stay in a tie for the British Open lead, while Tiger Woods will need a miraculous recovery just to stay around for the weekend.

After getting himself to even par for the tournament after a birdie on No. 7, Woods bogeyed No. 8 and No. 9 at Turnberry, then lost his ball with an errant tee shot at No. 10 and took a double bogey. He steadied himself with a par at No. 11, then bogeyed No. 12 and double bogeyed No. 13. That brought him to +7 for the tournament, with the projected cut line looking like +4.
